    Germantown Neighbors: Jeffrey Dickerson

Jeffrey Dickerson wears many hats each day.

Whether it’s his hat as the Democratic committeeperson for the 59th Ward, the self-made hat he made for his Facebook-live talkshow, or his favorite hat as a minister — he’s always engaged in educating his Germantown community.

Dickerson and his spouse Omar Galloway have run the Nehemiah Tabernacle, Inc. church from their home on Morris Street near Apsley. The Christian church was founded to focus on “unifying straight, gay, lesbian, and transgendered individuals through fellowship and worship,” according to its website.

Dickerson is a lifelong resident of Germantown and said he spends his time trying to give back to his community whenever he can.

Over the years, Nehemiah Tabernacle, Inc. church has grown, just like its good works. Dickerson said he believes the church will soon grow out of his home and would benefit by having a new building so it can increase its diaper drives for families experiencing poverty.
