Resolve Philly, a leading nonprofit dedicated to developing and advancing journalism rooted in equity, collaboration, and the elevation of community voices, is proud to announce the appointment of Elizabeth Seidlin-Bernstein to its Board of Directors.
Lizzie brings nearly 15 years of experience as a media and First Amendment attorney at Ballard Spahr, where she litigates and advises journalists and news organizations on defamation, privacy, access to information, and prepublication risk. Her career has been rooted in protecting the rights of reporters and strengthening the legal foundations that make independent, community-centered journalism possible. That work aligns closely with Resolve Philly’s mission to build trust, elevate community voices, and support resilient local information ecosystems—making her perspective especially valuable as Resolve continues to grow its hyperlocal newsroom model and deepen its impact across Philadelphia.
“We are thrilled to welcome Lizzie to our leadership team,” said Sara Shariari, Executive Director of Resolve Philly. “Her deep expertise in media and passion for news will be invaluable as we build on Resolve’s focus as a network of hyperlocal newsrooms”.
Liza Gross, Resolve’s Board Chair adds “We are thrilled Lizzie has accepted our invitation to join the board of Resolve. Her expertise in media and First Amendment issues will be an invaluable contribution as Resolve moves forward in its mission to serve the informational needs of all Philadelphians.”
“As a lawyer who has worked with news organizations all over the country, I am honored by this opportunity to support innovative community journalism in my own hometown,” said Seidlin-Bernstein. “We need Resolve Philly’s vision and commitment to news reporting at the neighborhood level now more than ever, and I look forward to helping extend the organization’s reach.”
