Local faith leaders push back on tax cuts and rising costs
At FUMCOG in Germantown, faith leaders and community members gathered to oppose the City Council’s plan to phase out the Business Income and Receipts Tax by 2039. They warned it could lead to cuts in city services and worsen the affordability crisis, sharing personal stories of housing struggles and rising requests for assistance. They urged officials to create long-term solutions at a citywide affordability summit on February 1, 2026.
