At Awbury’s urban beekeeping sessions, mutuality is all the buzz.
At Awbury Arboretum, the Philadelphia Beekeepers Guild gave beginner beekeepers a hands-on look at responsible hive care, from swarm prevention to disease monitoring. Guild members said urban beekeeping can benefit both people and bees, but only when colonies are properly managed, registered and cared for with neighbors in mind. The Guild also hosts family-friendly Bee Sundays for people who want to learn more before keeping bees themselves.
