Community News
Community News focuses on bridging the digital divide in Philadelphia.
Community News encompasses Equally Informed Philly and Germantown Info Hub. This work also includes Info Hub Captains, who contribute to, and distribute a print newsletter based on our monthly conversations and their assessment of their community’s information needs.

Who are Info Hub Captains?
Info Hub Captains are community leaders. They know what’s going on on their block! Our goals with this program is to provide a sense of community among folks who are already naturally well connected, to empower Philly residents to tell their stories and to provide support for organizations with resources trying to expand their reach. We’re launching this program because we know that we can strengthen local media by working with the community.
Info Hub Captains have two main responsibilities with the print newsletter: storytelling and distribution. Info Hub Captains can be a part of one or both categories. Every Info Hub Captain, regardless of whether they are focusing on storytelling or distribution, has input on what will be covered in the newsletter.
Storytellers and distributors will be paid $150. People in both categories will be paid $300.
Storytellers will:
Contribute to our community newsletter (writing, photography, art, etc.)
Distributors will:
Assist the EIP team with strategic distribution of the newsletter at community events, to community organizations, to neighbors etc.
