    Philly Gear Library breaks down barriers to the outdoors

    The Philly Gear Library was started two years ago by Robin Roberts, and is dedicated to making outdoor experiences like camping and backpacking accessible to all people, especially marginalized people. They provide low cost rentals and orientations training people how to use gear.

    Rebuild’s training academies construct the future for everyday people

    When Marie-Monique Marthol joined Rebuild Philly’s Carpentry Academy, she wasn’t just learning a trade—she was stepping into a whole new future. After years in health education, she took a leap into construction, balancing training with caregiving for her 111-year-old aunt. Now in her second year of apprenticeship, she reflects: “This program made a big difference. We met industry leaders, built skills, and prepared for the real world.” This year, Rebuild is once again offering a pathway into the trades.
