Documenting the Philadelphia Juneteenth Festival in Germantown (WATCH)

For more than 20 years, the Johnson House has been the proud host of the Philadelphia Juneteenth Festival in Germantown, earning the title of the oldest Juneteenth festival in Philadelphia. Throughout the last eight years, Tieshka K. Smith has skillfully captured the essence of this annual event through her camera lens.

This year marked a special occasion as the Johnson House and Historic Germantown jointly presented the “Documenting the Philadelphia Juneteenth Festival in Germantown” exhibition.

In a collection of interviews with the Germantown Info Hub, Curator and Photographer Tieshka K. Smith, Johnson House Executive Director Cornelia Swinson, and Historic Germantown Executive Director Tuomi Forrest shared insights into the exhibition and its profound significance for the Germantown community.
