Wellness with no worry: January 2025’s local health and healing offerings

2025 is here, and the Germantown Info Hub has covered your New Year’s resolutions in health and wellness. We know the top of the year is usually a time when people renew their gym memberships and start new classes, and what better way to meet your goals than to do it close to home?

Below are a variety of wellness events, $22 and below, you can find around the neighborhood this month.

Birth Certificate Clinic

What it is: In-person clinic to help people obtain their birth certificates, which are necessary to access other vital resources.

Cost: Free

Where and when: In-person at Face to Face (123 E. Price Street)

Mindfulness Classes

What it is: Gain valuable skills to cope with stress, loss, pain, sleep issues, and more. Led by Drexel University Medical students.

Cost: Free

Where and when: In-person at 5011 Wayne Avenue or online on Zoom; January 8 and 15, at 1 p.m. & January 28 at 3 p.m.

Community Yoga

What it is: A chance to breathe, flow, and grow as a community.

Cost: Pay-as-you-wish ($10 suggested donation)

Where and when: Mondays at 7 p.m. at Space & Grace Yoga & Wellness (6120 Greene Street, Unit B)

Meditation and Stress Management

What it is: Services for low-income folks to decompress and learn to manage their stress.

Cost: Free

Where and when: Mediation on Mondays at 1:30 p.m. and Stress Management group session on Thursdays at 1:30 p.m. Both happen at Face to Face (123 E Price Street)

Healing Verse Poetry Line

What it is: A line folks can call to listen to a weekly poem designed to provide a sense of healing, comfort, and reflection. It’s one part of the bigger Healing Verse Germantown project.

Cost: Free

Where and when: Anytime; 1-855-POEM-RX2 (763-6792)

Philly Herb Hub 

What it is: Obtain herbal blends, remedies, and beauty products for personal use.

Cost: Free for Black Philadelphians

Where and when: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 12-6 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Brother to Brother Support Group

What it is: This support group offers a space for men impacted by homicide to come together, share their experiences, and support one another in navigating their loss while working toward ending the pandemic of murder.

Cost: Free
