Resolve Philly is pleased to announce the appointment of Anna Nirmala to its Board of Directors.
Anna Nirmala is a strategy and business executive dedicated to building sustainable, community-centered organizations, particularly during periods of transformation. Her career encompasses management consulting, audience engagement innovation and national leadership in nonprofit local news. Notably, as a founding member of the American Journalism Project, she contributed to investment strategy development and supported award-winning newsrooms in 11 regions nationwide.
Anna’s appointment coincides with Resolve Philly’s renewed focus on strategic clarity, organizational stability and hyperlocal news. Her experience in guiding organizations through change while remaining attentive to community needs aligns with the direction of Resolve Philly in pursuing its next phase.
Board Co-Chair Liza Gross emphasized the significance of this appointment:
We are delighted to welcome Anna Nirmala to the Board of Directors of Resolve. Anna deeply believes that an essential component of reinvigorating local news lies in developing and executing effective sustainability plans. She has devoted her professional life to creating growth opportunities for a variety of companies, small businesses and nonprofit organizations. Her extensive experience will provide valuable guidance and insights as Resolve continues to carry on its mission to serve the informational needs of all Philadelphians.
According to the recruitment committee, Anna distinguished herself through her ability to combine strategic discipline with a human-centered vision. This combination is expected to enhance Resolve Philly’s long-term sustainability and reinforce its community-first approach to journalism.
For Anna, joining the board represents both a personal and purpose-driven commitment:
As someone who is focused on both the transformation and sustainability of a thriving local information ecosystem, Resolve Philly has always been a bright star amidst so much chaos and decline. I grew up not far outside of Philadelphia and had so many formative experiences throughout childhood and my college years, thanks to the incredible city and its people. I want to see innovative and community centered journalism models grow and be pillars of light for communities locally, which is why I joined Resolve Philly’s board. I look forward to learning and growing alongside the leadership, staff and my fellow board of director members as we help cement Resolve Philly’s vision and mission in deeper and more longstanding ways in the years to come.
Resolve Philly is honored to welcome Anna Nirmala to the Board of Directors and anticipates that her clarity, experience and collaborative spirit will contribute significantly to this new phase of organizational growth.
