    G-Town Beat: 610-40 High Street Civic Design Review

    A proposed development at 610-40 High St. would add 35 dwelling units, including 21 single-family homes and seven duplexes, along with 44 parking spaces. During Civic Design Review, Planning Commission staff, committee members, and neighbors raised questions about the site’s layout, parking-heavy design, stormwater management, heat impacts, pedestrian safety, and how the project could create more usable green and community space. The project is scheduled to go before the Zoning Board of Adjustment on May 13.

    Property transfer for Historic Germantown Town Hall redevelopment approved

    The Philadelphia City Planning Commission unanimously approved Property Bill 260242, clearing the way for Germantown Town Hall to be transferred to PAID for private redevelopment. The proposal centers on adaptive reuse of the historic building, with YouthBuild expected as an anchor tenant, while some neighbors pushed for stronger accountability measures and raised traffic concerns.
